Just wanted to get some opinions on Tyres. Got a MY00 and changed the stock wheels and tyres for some OZ racing super T's 17x7 with 215/45 17 P7000 Pirelli's. These held the road much better than the stock set up. Presumably alot like the RB5, however the height caused the tyres to touch the wheel arch in the rear while new. It is now almost time to replace these and I was wondering what size would be best 205/45 17 like an RB5, or 215/ 40 17 like I have seen on some cars ??? Should I get S02's P Zero's or Yokohama's new tyre the Prada ????

Any comments would be appreciated

Hello, My mate just put 215/40/17's on his scooby and the dont touch or rub atall so this is what i would recomend, also Toyo tyres are pretty good with the directional tread.

The 215/45 17 are too big for the car, and will usually rub.

I've had 215/40 17 and 205/45 17 on my previous car, and even though the suspension sat very low at the back, there was never any rubbing!!

The two size are very similar. 205/45 17 are recommended by Prodrive, but 215/40 17 offer a better range of tyres!

After having a set of SO2's I don't think I will go for anything else!!

Yes,

215/45 is too big a size, as the size of the sidewall is significantly bigger than that of a 205/45 or 215/40. (well not a huge amount - about 5%, but enough to make a difference).

A lot depends on the offset of the wheels used. Too low an offset, e.g. less than 48mm and the tyres could rub the rear arches if you fit oversize tyres, but 45mm offset will be OK with the correct size of tyres, on standard suspension. On cars with lowered suspension, there is more potential for the tyres to contact the wheel arches, so you need to be more careful over your choice and wheels and tyres.

Me, I'm happy with my 215/40 x 17 S02s http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
