External Use Cat5 Cable ?

Anyone know anywhere I can get approx 10m of external use cat5 cable ? Don't want to be buying a whole drum :D I know this stuff is weatherproofed, but is it safe and will it turn my house into a lightning conductor ? :D

Cheers.

Er

I've used normal Cat5 out the window type thing for ages with not a problem. Maybe not the "correct" piece of kit but its been absolutely fine and I don't see why it wouldn't be.

Regarding lightning conductor, lightning normally strikes the top of the house and finds the easiest route down to the earth. I don't believe that a bit of Cat5 strung between 2 windows will present much hazard but of course it is wise to be careful.

If you want to be safe, get a bit of flexible hosing or tube, run the Cat5 through it.

Dunk, e-mail me your address and I will mail you some out. Are you sure 10m is enough.

Also does it have to be twisted or straight?

I was hoping someone would say that ;) Got loads of normal Cat5 at home already, but I was under the impression that this would perish under external weather conditions ? Hence why this external stuff has a PE sheath to cover temps -30 to +80 ?
