I have just had fitted four Toyo Proxes t1-s (215 40 17). The car feels unstable and tends to oversteer.

I have tried altering the tyre pressures - 32 Front 28 Back and 33 Front and Back. The latter seems to have reduced the oversteer, but the turn accuracy is nothing like the previous tyres (P-Zeros 205 45 17).

Help!!

That is just the way the Toyo´s are I am afraid. they are a little soft on the sidewall.. They are a lot cheaper than anything else (at least in holland)

Give them a chance !

They need a few miles under their belt until they feel their best - for mine, about 200 miles.

My Toyos are the same size and are much better than P Zeros (which I had before) IMHO.

Just wait until it rains....

Thanks

Gavin

Hi

that is true, you have to "run them in". A.o the tyre has to settle around the wheel...

Do you mean the car tends to under or oversteer?
It is unlikely to be oversteer if the turn-in is 'lees accurate'.
Any new tyres take a while to settle in though, as the oils are removed from the surface.
I have TOYO's and they are by far the best tyres I've ever had.

I have Toyo`s as well. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Best tyres for the price.

I run them @ 33psi front, 31psi Rear, Nice and forgiving tyres. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Should always be nice and easy on new tyres...Or they will BITE! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Anyone out there got any experience of the 215/40x17 T1-S? The P-Zeros on my car are appraoching the end of their useful life and I'm considering alternatives.

Not sure about the Bridgestone S-02 PPs due to the weight & expense!

Cheers.

Andrew.

Andrew...

I'm running proxies on my OZ 17's and on my 16" track wheels.

I've had proxies since my first scooby and I think they are a fine tyre in both 16 and 17" flavours...

Had the Toyo's for over 2000 Miles now. They are getting better, but I have yet to find the best pressures. Currently trying 36 front and back.

Stef - Oversteer! Really caught me by surprise. Glad I have been on the Skid Pan!!!!!
