Hi,

Went to Micheldever to have my geometry reset this morning - after having had Koni suspenders installed a couple of weeks ago. I also asked them to swap my wheels back to front 'cos the fronts were a little worn on the inside.

They then proceeded to flog me two new tyres 'cos the fronts were extremely worn on the inside - one more than the other and the other alkso had a nail in it! Bugger bugger bugger.....

So, I did have crap suspension until about 3 weeks ago (Eibach lowering springs on standard - 4 year old - dampers). But the readout this morning had the suspension geometry just about spot-on - the front camber was about .7 deg. negative both sides.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the tyres should wear like this?

I had already swapped them back to front once before.
I also have an ALK plus Powerflex bushes on the front wishbone so this is NOT moving where it shouldn't!
I have 17s with 215/40 tyres.

Ta

Dave

AS soon as you change from std setup you will increase the wear rate on your tyres. This has been born out by your front tyres wearing the inside circumference out quickly. One reason for more wear on one side could be `roundabouts`!!

Hi Dave

That amount of camber should not wear the insides IMHO unless you only drive on motorways and drive round corners like a nun, also the rear has 1 degree neg as standard and wears OK.

To much toe out is normally the cause of wear on the inside edges(was the toe setting OK?).
I reckon the geom must have been out while you had the old suspenders on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I have found that even with 1 deg neg front camber and the ALK I am still wearing the outside edges and my front left is only just legal even though there is about 3mm in the middle, however this is with SO2's on 16".

Kris due to my enthuiastic driving style the modified geom has actually reduced my tyre wear.
