STi V limited

anyone read any reviews of the V limited?

Ive got one reserved for 24hours at a dealer and need to make a real quick decision regarding the V limited or a standard JDM Sti..

I will use it as 99% road car, so circuit performance is not an issue, I dont need hardcore, i just need a nice fast road car.

Im a pretty inexperienced driver, so I dont need the handling of the Spec C - but I am quite tempted by the suspension, although I cant find out if it makes the car more hardcore or just generally nicer

anyone know much/anything about the STi V limited, other than what is on the official subaru site?

sorry but i will bump this, because i now only have a couple of hours before the dealer stops holding this car for me.

It depends on what your after, i take it its a version 5 STi? (thus the V limited).
Is it also the 4 door car?
You are basically buying one of the best if not the best classic car if it is the above, you will however not get ABS as these cars have a DCCD, if you like ABS then this isnt the car for you :( and can be a handful due to the DCCD (more rear bias power) but you can change the configuration of the power using the DCCD (it stands for driver controlled centre differential).
Great car, will need to be either remapped or run on optimax AND octane booster (Millers/NF etc).
Hope this helps :D

I seem to remember this bloke lives in Japan and was on about the new age V-Ltd Sti, but I could be wrong...

The only other limited STi i know of thats produced at the moment is the Spec C limited, the other option will be the GL which will be a good buy for anyone :D

Horton

I have a JDM STi 9 GL and it's a fantastic piece of kit.

The V Limited is based on this car but has a slightly more trick suspension setup.

For the average driver using the car on the road only I'd go for the GL.

If you plan to do track days go for the V Limited which has adjustable suspension IIRC.

On the V-Lim, other than the suspension you are paying a lot of money for some badges. IMHO.

The special suspension set, front aero skirt, shift nob, and that all important serial number sound like not toooo bad a deal when you consider the individual prices in the STi catalogue.

Price wise, sub-20k STG.

horton 16 March 2004 05:33 AM

the price for the V limited with optional BBS alloys was 3.5M Yen which became 4M Yen on the road with all new cars taxes, registration etc. (aprox 17.5K and 20K sterling)

the price for a normal STi with optional DCCD is 3 170 000 Yen / 3 650 000 basic price/on the road - 16K sterling / 18.3K sterling .

these are the official prices, however its a couple of weeks away from the end of the japanese financial year, so people are looking to make sales - the dealer said he would give me a 200 000Yen (1 grand) discount on the V limited or sti

horton 16 March 2004 05:36 AM

oh and thanks for the input on the V limited, based on what people have said here, in PM and places other than this forum, the V limited would not be the sensible choice for me, I would prefer to spend the money I could save by getting a standard STi on some nice bits, rather than have a limited edition car which would probably lose all its value the second I started changing bits on it.
