i/c spray?????
hi
does anyone know what triggers the i/c spray in auto mode ie, throttle position, engine speed, inlet temp, boost pressure or a combination ????? also is there a way of telling when it is working? cheers stevie boy |
stevie boy,
It's triggered by the ECU but what triggers that I am not quite sure although I think it's a combination of throttle position and boost pressure. As for making sure and when it comes in, disconnect the water feed pipe and pin it underneath a windsreen wiper, go for a blast and you will know when it comes in!! |
AFAIK its boost pressure and thats with a Hobbs(sp??) switch
|
this has been debated before but no-one has come up with the definative answers.
I'd for certain like to know what triggers it, and can this trigger be altered ? |
I'm confused here :( I thought the i/c spray was manual-only. Does it also kick in automatically?

Me To
What AUTO mode ?
|
AUTO mode is on the decent JDM STi's ;)
I think its triggered by a sensor that picks up the ammount of heat in the intercooler, its not done on boost as on a cold day you dont need it ;):D Tony:D |
i saw a post a long time ago from MIKE WOODS stating that on the uk sti's the ic spray was auto BUT only in certain circumstances when the engine needed it
|
The JDM cars have an auto button AND a manual button, very nice too :D

Mike Wood did indeed post about the spray being automatic, and I even had this confirmed over on the Ecutek forums too:
However, no-one seems to know how this is indeed triggered. The only comments I have found are "look at the wiring diagram". Surely, someone must know the definative answer to this.. |
