Saxo Boy has recently swapped his Scoob for a 3.0 V6 I think. Maybe send him a PM?

MarkCSC 11 March 2004 12:27 PM

Lovely looking car on the outside, rep wagon on the inside.
Great engine, uninvolving handling, naff steering

LG John 11 March 2004 01:00 PM

I don't have the coupe though just the 3.0V6 saloon :) Its a great car with lots of nice toys, etc. The engine is considerably more economical than the scooby despite its CCs and is fooking quick when you get her wound up :D The best bit is the lazy driving where you can pull cleanly away from mini-roundabouts in 3rd and 4th!! Feel free to ask any questions :)

mother in law had a 3.0v6 coupe, suprisingly quick and handled well, interior was ok was this sandy coloured leather, with sky blue paint. It should of been real wheel drive as it had a few tourqe steer problems in the wet.

it was a w plate and had the updated 230bhp unit and sounded pretty sweet.

had a bucket load of problems when it was new but was ok upto when she sold for a cr-v yuck.

is there many used ones around what do they fetch ??.

RLE 11 March 2004 05:26 PM

Had one very briefley-was a company car.

It was an automatic-felt very smooth and responsive. Brakes seemed good and thought the handling was ok at the time. As mentioned before a bit uninvolving but effortless driving. Had all the toys (crusie etc) Shame the alloys looked so damn small otherwise nice looking car.

im thinkin of one of these but in HDi form. just to run to work n back. the scoob gets rather expensive on the 120 mile round trip...

PG 11 March 2004 10:28 PM

the guy I bought my Scoob from went to a HDi coupe and he really likes it.
I also think they are really nice looking cars !

J4CKO 11 March 2004 10:32 PM

SB, wheres the Scoob gone ?

230 BHP, dont you mean 210 ?

LG John 12 March 2004 10:31 AM

2nd Gen engine was 210bhp as J4CKO suggests. The scooby is sitting in the car port costing me £130 a month EXTRA in insurance and about £50 a day in depreciation. Now at £7500ono for a 60k MY99 impreza - watch NSR for a MASSIVE rant when I finally sell it ;):D

J4CKO 12 March 2004 06:06 PM

SB Why ?

LG John 12 March 2004 06:59 PM

I want to invest some money into my flat so I need some capital from the scooby's sale and also a car thats cheaper to run :)

pryally 15 March 2004 02:10 PM

just bought one of these (should pick it upfriday/saturday).

3.0 v6 light blue with full black leather interior. v plate

gone from mx-5 to wrx to 205 gti's to 406

LG John 15 March 2004 02:17 PM

I doubt you'll regret it. I was supposed to be taking a step down but I've somehow found a cheap car with loads of toys and stonking performance that can give scoobys a good run when up and running. Win-win I think :)

ProperCharlie 15 March 2004 02:22 PM

SB - what sort of MPG are you getting out of the V6? as i have accidentally gone over to the pug side, this could be a route to more fun for me. :)

atm i get about 30 mpg out of the 2.0 406, mainly dual carriageway and A road driving. (must bear in mind that when i was doing the same route in the scoob, i hardly ever got out of the high teens :D)

LG John 15 March 2004 02:42 PM

At the moment (mainly rush hour motorway driving = slow down/speed up) I'm getting 26.5mpg. This is with the air-con in eco mode most of the time, having no fear of a 20-120mph then back off run from roundabouts, using cruise where I can (defo saves) and generally setting cruise at 81mph (indicated)(don't know why, just sits nice at that speed :D)

The 2nd version of the 3.0 (210bhp) is said to have a few more mpg's up its sleeve :)

In real world terms I can get £45 of optimax into my scooby and £45 of NUL into my pug. I'd get 260-80 miles out the scooby and 350-70miles out the pug (same routine during the week) so effectively I'm getting about 90 miles per tank improvement. Factor in, longer service intervals, cheaper services, cheaper insurance and peanuts to buy and overall its a good swap for a scooby I'd say :)

I'm getting a sports zost fitted tomorrow to free up a bit of a growl - will report back with results :)
