picked up my new scoob yesterday and did 300 miles.

How do people stop from pressing the accelerator all the way to the floor during run in???!!!!!

I also now understand about Novas! I was doing 60 on a short stretch of the M3 and a nova 1.2 went past, the driver had a big grin as though he'd won a small victory.

Thanks for all the advice guys

Welcome Fosters. Wait until you get 3-4K on the clock and it eases up, then you'll know why most of us enthuse about the Scoobie.

Since I picked the car up it's spent yesterday and today in stonking sunshine!

The paint's gone bumpy like they lacquered dust onto the paint. there's also quite alot of bubbles too (none more than .5mm across though) - which are the colour of the bodywork; DBM. I thought it might be polish residue but it doesn't feel right to the touch. any idea before I hand the car back to the dealer?

Also, I had to parallel park in a narrow street and a scratched little paint off the new prodrive 17" gold rims http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif Do you just paint back over it?

stray15 18 June 2000 08:53 PM

Cheap car, that would never happen to a Porsche!!

Chip 18 June 2000 09:05 PM

Fosters, trouble with DBM is it will show up any marks, water spots dust etc more than light colours will. Contact Mark Underwood from Wax Wizard. Customer service and products are excellent for keeping your car in top condition. Although others would disagree I would not use Mer or Autoglym products as I find they tend to scratch the laquer.

Cheers

Chip.

Welcome,

I had what sounds like the same problem with the paint on my DBM as well. The dealer told me that it was over use of a thinners they use to belnd in the spray when painting. It then "pickles" and looks like silver dust that is slightly bumpy to the touch.

Take it and show it to your your dealer. I had mine sorted and had the offending section resprayed under warranty. Can't tell the difference now.

DBM is a nightmare for showing up the slightest mark or scratch though!

Regards,

James.

Fosters,

Welcome to the club!

How much was your PPP? "Official Price" or do they have any special deals? I am interested but don't have £2k http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

i wish Prodive would do a 'special' price now and again !

i'd luv the PPP but as Subarussian said i dont have 2k !!

well i do but 'the other ½' wants a holiday so there goes a large part of 2k !

i drove a PPP car before purchasing my MY00 and its definitely a totally different car. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

still i'm a little unhappy with the offical price.

i'm gonna wait for details of the MY01 and maybe get one rather than spend lots of money on PPP.

Fosters 20 June 2000 09:21 AM

I've not driven a standard car - Bell & colvill got in a prodrive'd car for me to testdrive.

bottom line is, I couldn't wait for the MY01. Actually I had problems waiting 3 weeks for mine!

is the MY01 going to be 280bhp?
