90,000 mile service

Its that time when i gotta have the mutha of all services!! Each quote i got made me cringe a bit.
Lowest i got was £690 but i decided to go with a genuine Subaru service which was £725.
Looks like my bonus i got has just gone:(
oh well!!!!!
whats the cheapest any one has had?

DEKA 09 March 2004 10:15 PM

My 93 wrx had its 90,000 service 3 months ago. Guenuine Subaru parts except plugs and air filter. (£570)

KaraK 09 March 2004 10:17 PM

I'm having mine done next week, its for a MY98 UK Turbo and I'm having the front brakes changed and have been quoted £500+VAT

SiDHEaD 09 March 2004 10:54 PM

Mines in at the end of the month - MY99 UK - going to scoobyclinic so should be cheaper than dealership. Having some paint done at the same time. better sit down now, feeling faint!!

But it'll be worth it. :D

I've got the extended warranty so I'm having to cough up £725 at dealer too, but did get a quote for £820 from dealer in Surrey! Spending that sort of cash I thought I may be able to borrow a demonstrator for the day, but the courtesy car is 64hp VW polo.... Train it is!

DreXeL 10 March 2004 09:45 AM

£520 at an Independant Subaru specialist.

APJ 10 March 2004 10:41 AM

Had my MY00 90k service 3 weeks ago by Subaru dealer - was wuoted £571 all in including cambelt. Ended up at £660 due to a few other fixes.

Where are you

Hi
One_lung what part of the country are you from?

My workshop is in Northamptonshire were I can do your 90k service for £460
check my website www.northantssubaru.co.uk

Beware of cheap cambelt substitutes that may bring down the cost at non-subaru specialists. The cost of the part is roughly £140.00, and it's half a day's work to fit. Count on this; my nephew's a Subaru specialist servicer.

I think you need to replace some oil seals (crank case?) at this service or there can be big oil leaks , remeber a thread about someone who got oil leaks just above 90k

****!!!!!!! and i thought £425 for the 60k was bad!!!!!!

Matt P 10 March 2004 10:14 PM

£520ish at subaru4you. Good service too. :)

Bubba po 10 March 2004 10:14 PM

All the fluids need need replacing; crankcase oil, diff oil, brake fluid and engine oil. If any seals have deteriorated they should be picked up on and replaced. On top of that there're plugs, air filter, oil filter and the aforementioned cambelt. Pretty thorough, but it's not a vauxhall nova we're running here, is it? :D

julian N/W wrx my93 10 March 2004 11:56 PM

if you do it yourself u find it's less than £200 in parts, depending on cambelt choice, and a couple of hours with dirty hands,
makes you think how much people are making out of us, doesn't it.

One_Lung 11 March 2004 07:05 PM

Northantsscooby, thanx for the offer but i've already booked it in now. I just bit the bullet at the time!!

2000Tlondon, I'm having that same VW Polo with its AWESOME 64 HP!!!! watch out all you beemer M3's LOL.

AND i've gotta insure myself for the courtesy car. I thought if you got a courtesy car from a proper dealer then the courtesy car would be just that. No mucking about with my insurance, it'll be covered under the dealers!!
Am i just being mad or is that how it used to happen!?!
ho-hum.....Oh and they're checking for that infamous piston slap, which i'm pretty sure i have cause it don't sound too hot in the morning and its starting to bug me!!
And i gotta have my 5 year corrosion inspection and a MOT!
Only a couple of things to have done;):)

SiDHEaD 11 March 2004 07:12 PM

The subaru dealer i go to doesn't require me to sort insurance - even though i am under 25. Yours must have seen you drive or something :p ;)

andypugh2000 11 March 2004 07:22 PM

I am just about to book mine in for the 90k service, taking it to Bell & Colvill in west horsley, who cares what the cost is, they do a good thorough job and its worth having the peace of mind incase something goes wrong a week later, who knows what parts a non subaru service engineer will fit, I mean its not as if you are going to take the cam belt covers off, take out the plugs, drain the oils to make sure its a genuine part are you??

Remember you only get what you pay for! :D

One_Lung 11 March 2004 07:23 PM

sidehead. You are probably right!! at times i do drive quite aggresively!!!. But its the car, it wants me to go quick!! it doesn't like poodling along;)
