do scoobys have heated mirrors?

i have the electric folding mirrors but they don't seem to be heated? is this normal? i can't read the hand book because it's all in japanese :D

I remember seeing a thread about this several months ago-apparently the heater element is allready in the mirrors on the classics but they arent wired up,various people have been wiring them up themselves to (i presume) the rear demister switch.
I think all 01+ cars have heated mirrors though.

:)

easy

My jdm 03 sti has folding mirrors but doesn't have the heating feature (I think this was an optional extra for me) however MY00 Subaru Pleo does

Sounds like we need someone with a knackered mirror to gut it and photo the internal gubbins for the good of the community.... :)

Brun 10 March 2004 08:50 AM

knackered mirror anyone?:D

mrklaw 10 March 2004 11:41 AM

generally its not that cold in Japan (metropolitan areas anyway)

So the UK gets electric heated mirrors that don't fold, the Japanese get electric folding mirrors that don't heat.

markwild 10 March 2004 11:51 AM

OK _ Whose connected those heater elements then ?

We need a UK 'project' description please :D

My 98 UK turbo wagon doesn't have either heated or folding mirrors

markwild 10 March 2004 08:29 PM

Andy - They're not heated as standard, but are electric - 'we' 'believe' that the heater part of the mirror is actually in place, since they electrically moveable, but is not wired up----

The folding ones are Jap only I'm afraid !

my MY04 sti has heated mirrors that come on with the rear window demister

Simon Lau 11 March 2004 03:10 AM

Could it be they really come on with the de-mister ?? I'll give it a try in December when we get crappy weather again

markwild 11 March 2004 08:28 AM

Err- We're talking classic here, as the new models have 'such mod cons..'...

The classic DEFO doesn't have them wired up....- I don't even know that it has them - maybe need to take a mirror off....

Where's GreaseMonkey when you want him? :)

CHRIS_D 11 March 2004 09:12 AM

i had a look under the mirror switch on my sti5 the other day. theres 3 connectors for the mirrors there.

I'm assuming one is for adjusting the mirrors and the other is for the elec folding mirrors, both these are connected. the third one is not connected to anything. any idea what its for ?

donutman 11 March 2004 10:03 AM

stick 12v on it and see what happens

Brun 12 March 2004 09:56 AM

That'll be the "Super Persuit mode" wire :D
