Tobermory - holiday

Hello,

Any folks have a recommendation for self catering flats/lodges in Tobermory. I've had a good look around on all the websites but it's nowhere near as useful as hearing 1st hand what a place is like.

In case you haven't guessed our wee one can barely speak but can name all the characters from Balamory so want to take her in July as a treat :)

Any recommendations for accomodation.

Cheers,
Doofus.

Howdy Doofus - stayed in Balamory a coupla times recently - check Tobermory Holidays in your fave search engine. Its a big mansion type hoose but theres some self catering type flats out the back. Big child friendly place (garden and kids toys and off the "main" roads), smashin grub and peace and quiet. They'll do ya brekkie in the morn if you want and bring it across to your room so it really is the best of both worlds.

Theres also the Harbour Heights (www.harbourheights.mull.com - Josie Jumps house!) - when I was there they did mountain bike hire if thats yo thang. It's more of a BnB type establishment tho...

Done the whole Balamorty thing last year and hope to be back this year again. Can highly recommend the distillery tour :-) and if you play your cards right the wee newsagent will have Balamory merchandise (was over for the half marathon last year and came back with a sweatshirt for the wee fella - he's the source of a lot of envy at the nursery!)

Have a guid time (and remember to go across the back road from Lochaline to Fishnish avoiding the Oban to Craignure run)

Doofus,

D Brown, who occasionally posts here, is from Tobermory.

I'll email him on Monday and point him in the direction of this post.

He's working overseas at the moment and completely balls out at work so it might take a while for him to respond.

Cheers,

N :)

Tobermory / Balamory

Hello peeps, D Brown in disguise here.

Don't want to show too much favouritism but....normally I would recommend by brither's hoose but it's booked out all this year. So are most places I hear. Some self-catering below, also recommend the Tobermory Hotel and Copeland Guest House. As Numpite says, working balls-oot overseas but not to busy to make it up to Crathes Village hall (with Mrs Broon) next month for the party of the century.

So in turn for the recommendations, you must go into Brown's shop and buy a bottle / some paint / hire a mountain bike. That's my inheritance sorted.

these should be good:

Wullie Logan's

A building that's featured in Balamory (the Sweetie shop?)

with a view to die for

bang on the Main Street

And if you can find a number for Miss Hooley's house in West Street, she does B&B as well.

Found the link to yer pictures. Not entirely sure my generous west-coast-bred-Paris-restaurant-fed arse will fit but I'll gie it a hurl.

Thanks for all your help folks :)

Most places seem to be booked up (very popular place now!) but we did find
a wee self catering cottage about 5 mins from the main street.

Wee one doesn't understand what a holiday is yet but I'm looking forward to seeing her face when she gets to Balamory :D ... off to check out ferries soon as I believe you need to book them in advance.

Cheers for all the help.
Doofus.

Doofus,

IIRC, the Oban-Craignure route should be booked but the Lochaline-Fishnish is just a turn up job (i.e. you can't book).

Cheers,

N :)
