can anyone suggest any couriers that could deliver a car engine & gearbox from bath to belfast?

I don't know that a courier is going to be the best bet for something that size. See if you can find a groupage outfit. P&O Ferrymaster go over there, also used to be a guy called TCA Quinn that I used to use, very good service, collect Midlands at 10pm dilivered Belfast by 6.30am the next day.
