PANEL FILTER( advice needed, please)

as per title, is this a good idea on a MY99 with PPP,i have read a few threads about not fitting an induction kit, but what about a panel filter and which one do you recommend(k&n,itg, sti, etc, etc)

thanks in advance

genuine STi panel filter only on a MY99 IMHO. Proven to over 350BHP and doesnt contaminate the MAF.

will it fit a b4 rsk?

A second for STI panel filter - I have a MY00ppp and fitted the STi version - a quality filter too :)

I have got a K+N induction kit fitted to my 99 RB5wr and so far have done 16000 trouble free miles with it

a short while ago, after reading all the horror stories of MAF/engine failures..etc..etc..on here.I reverted back to the std air box with the Sti panel filter.

but with the panel filter the car definately felt more stifled and throttle response did not seem as sharp as it was with the induction kit.

Possibly a safer bet to go with the Sti filter, but i'm sticking with the K+N:)

I've got a Green panel filter in my Legacy turbo from TSL Motorsport in Nottingham they rate them as the flow is very good and its not heavily oiled as with some other ones. Performance is one thing but mashing your engine up is another. The flow is improved with the panel fillter. Induction kits tend to be advised against by TSL and quite a few people on this site.

I hope that helps.

What's the reason for advising against induction kits?

The_Judge 08 March 2004 10:51 AM

MAF sensor damage due to vibration. The MY99/00s MAFs are extremely delicate...
