Is it usual when spending 20 Grand?

Hi all,

I currently have a MY03 WRX, but had been thinking of trading in for a new one, so after 'UM'ing and 'R'ing, I decided to take the plunge once again. My conditions for placing the order with this particular UK Subaru dealer was that he promised me the car would be ready for or in the 1st week of March...

Guess what?...

...I had a call this morning to say that the car isn't likely to be ready for 'at least' another couple of weeks!

Am I being naive or something or is this usual behavior displayed by most UK Subaru Dealers or indeed other car dealerships when you're spending £ 20,000?

The real pi55er is that the car is in the UK and the dealer's saying IM (International Motors) are the ones delaying things... Anything I can do to speed things up?

Any similar tales of woe or indeed efficentness are most welcome.

Tim

So why exactly is the dealer saying you are the one in the wrong??

IM = International Motors ;)

Think 'most' car dealers are like this - A guy at work just ordered an RX8 - 1st march delivery.... Last week - phone call - 'could be end of march...'

So, he said 'I want it on the 1st' and the dealer replied 'how about the 3rd' - HELLO ?!

Anyhow, he stuck to his guns and had it on the 1st, BUT, I've ordered a car in the past in red - I then had a phone call from the dealer each day the following week with a different selection of colours - 'What about green' or ' I can get a gold one'....

Had to wait 6 weeks for a red one in the end, even though I'd originally been promised the one in the showroom within 3 days !

Good Luck - and I hope I do better too, as I've ordered a new car for my wife (2 weeks ago and still waiting for a delivery date...)

Alright lads ??
I ordered my new sti 7 wks befor the 1st march so i would have it for then, told the dealer i wanted a MY04 he tried to fob me off with a MY03, then told me it would take 6 wks to get a MY04 taking it into april, so i kicked off & was told it would be 1st march, i then recieved a phone call from the dealer tellin me it was going to be the 4th march before i got the car, so i went & visited them !!
Have a guess what happened the car was sitting in the compound waiting on a PDI & valet but they changed the date to the 2nd march (still not good enough) so i told the dealer i wanted it for the 1st or i would go & buy an EVO (sorry)
After many calls & many abusive words later i picked her up on the 29th feb (with trade plates) and she was PDI'd & all valeted !!
Thing is if you think about it
who is the customer that always gets what they want ???
the quiet one or the one that always shouts ??

I know it would be the one that always shouts so you can get a quieter life !!

Just my opinion
