How much BHP Have I got?

2002 STi7

Imported by Iain Lichfield (Lichfied Imports)

I have a EEC Cert of conformity

From there I *think* the car has come from Gunma/Japan.

So what bhp has my STi got?

Tiny 04 March 2004 06:04 PM

Why not put it on The rollers @ Witham on Sat ( See Southern ,RB5Scoott Posts) Will will all be down there:)

Will it make more than my Teq 3 Wrx ? lol !

Tiny...

Btw .... Think the Rollong Rd costs about £ 30 ( At least you would no for sure;)

LitchfieldImports 04 March 2004 06:04 PM

If it is one with a EU COC then it will be 265PS

Eh? If your car was registered new in 2002 and is a bugeye, it will be an STi8, not an STi7.

Was it imported from the EU or Japan? If it's an EU car it'll be 265ps as per the STi Type UK.

If it's a JDM car the best bet would be to check with Iain as to whether this car has been remapped for UK specification fuel or not. If bog standard, it'll be somewhere between 285 and 295bhp running on Optimax plus octane booster.

Greasemonkey, whats an STi 7 and STi 8?

Burble 04 March 2004 06:27 PM

STI7, STI8

There is no such thing according to Prodrive.
The STI labelling stopped at the STI6.

greasemonkey 04 March 2004 06:28 PM

Officially, no such thing, but if you're going to use numbers,
2001MY=STi7
2002MY=STi8
2003MY=STi9
2004MY=STi10, according to the people who make the cars...

Or, just call it an MY03 STi Type UK (or whatever), which is more accurate and doesn't need explanation. ;)

Blimey now I'm getting very confused!!

Bare with me here, and I'll give you some facts:

Is there anyway you can tell from this pic if it's an sti7 or 8:

http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/albu...dium.sized.jpg

It is stamped as entering the UK on 9th Aug 2002 at Bristol Docks.

I *think* it comes from Japan, but with an EU Certificate of Conformity.

Would it help if I provided the VIN number??

Sorry for being clueless, I always thought I had an STI7! lol

Iain it's Lee Christie's old car, can you fill me in :D

It does have a EU COC so that means it's 265PS, is it an STI7 or an STI8?

Power figures for MY03 WRX?

I recently took my ECU to Power Engineering for a TEK 2 upgrade. I got the higher of the two boost settings they offered.

Since I have no access to a dyno road in my country I want to know what my power figures are. If anyone is running a similar setup and have had a dyno test please help.

my mods include:

magnex decat uppipe
scoobysport decat downpipe
scoobysport decat twin centre
remus backbox
green panel filter
TEK 2

To a large extent it doesn't matter Nevetas, as this "STi7/8" business has been misused to the extent where it now means nothing.

Subaru don't officially use this numbering system on the new age cars. In reality there's not really any such thing as an STi7, or indeed an STi8, in official terms at least.

Trouble is that many folk on Scoobynet and elsewhere naturally tried to continue the number system that was established with the old shape cars, but instead of agreeing on a single system, three or four different ones have sprung up, to the extent that nobody knows WTF anyone else is talking about.

If you have a European market bugeye STi, it'll be a 2002 model year car, which is, according to the "correct" number system (i.e. the one used by Prodrive) is an "8". Many people here will call it an STi7, but in reality they're making it up as they go along.

If you simply call your car an MY02 STi Euro, everyone will know what you've got without all this "number" bullsh*t. ;)

If your car has a rear wiper, its a jap car and it will be 280bhp ,if not then 265bhp.Technically people call it an 8,but an sti with bug eyes is a 7,if you call it an 8 people will think it is a latest shape blobeye.confused?

Nevetas 04 March 2004 08:10 PM

Just a bit :D

OK so I now know it has 265bhp.

As to whether it's a 7 or an 8, it's now a MY02, job done :D :D

Cheers Guys

That's because, technically, if it's a number at all, it is an 8.

but an sti with bug eyes is a 7
Erm, no, Steve. An STi with bugeyes could be an STi27564.3158 if I say it is and somebody else copies me. This "all bugeyes are STi7" bullsh*t is nothing more than an oft-copied mistake, and the only reason you're saying it is because you saw someone else doing it. It isn't official, it isn't correct, and it doesn't even follow the logic set by the STI1-6 either.

Only because people continue to (mis)use this silly "number" system. Stop doing it and there'll be less opportunity for folk to get confused. ;)

Nice one Nevetas, an MY02 Euro STi it is. :)
