What should I look out for?

Hi all

Im about to go and view a MY95 impreza UK turbo. It has done 110k but with full service history, every 6K I believe :p with all the previous MOTs too. Some of those have been done at dealerships the other have been done at a tuning company.

Now seeing I know fook all about these  I was hoping some of you could clue me up with your knowledge on what I should keep my eye out for when I look and test drive it :)

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Emma :D

only advice I would give is go for something with less miles for a start.. worh paying the extra bit

:D

Bear in mind these cars are quite expensive to fix, even general wear & tear items from a non abused example.

If you like the look of the my95 & everything seems in order then worth paying the aa/rac to inspect it, that way you will be more aware of faults & can haggle abit!

Good luck

:D

Apart from the usual crash damage (panels not lining up properly or mismatched paint) Get it hpi'd. Make sure there is no smoke from the exhaust under boost or big puffs as you come off the power. Power should be smooth with no hesitation right up to the red line. Listen out for any strange rattles or knocks. Make sure you get to hear the car when it's cold and not just when it is warm. Also whats the guy selling it like? Is he knowledgable or an enthusiast? does he warm the car up before caning it and cool the car down after? I'm sure there is more to look for, i hope this helps.

Good luck, Johnny.

Just had a look at it.

Engine was tappy from cold but body work was good condition

4k was his asking price but it had done 119k not 110k as he told me over the phone so I left it :(

Gonna go back to a cosworth I think.

Emmababy - I appreciate the search doesn't work for non plus members, but this kind of post appears several times a week and people have started to get a bit bored with answering them. Have a trawl through the posts in general over the last couple of weeks and you will see similar thing that will help. Also links to the SIDIC FAQ and so on which will help

You will be surprised what you can get for your money esp when the seller wants rid of it as they can be bast*ards to sell at times. Having owned 3 in my family I should know!

Oh ok...I'll fu*k off then

I will still hang around the forsale forums and keep my eye out but wont post anywhere else.

Check out the Auto Trader website as theres usually half a dozen or so for sale. Failing that get a tidy Cossie again!

Good grief, chill out. I was just trying to explain why you didn't get much response, a lot of people will see the title and just skip over it as they have seen it all before. I was trying to be helpful by suggesting you had a look for previous similar posts of which there are plenty of the last few weeks. There is just no helping some people  As I said, also try the SIDC FAQ at http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm as that wll give you a lot of the basics.
