Crank rear oil seal
As I'm unfamiliar with the design of the above on the scoob, what would be the consequences of fitting it wrongly (is it even possible to fit it wrongly?) Is it subject to pressurised oil or just splash?

Rear crank seal is behind the flywheel.
Consequences would be oil leaking into area between gearbox and engine and possibly running/splashing onto the clutch causing clutch slip etc.. I believe it is pressurised but not 100% sure. It is not very easy to fit it wrongly imho.. as long as the new one is pushed in flush then I cannot see there being a problem. Only other causes of premature failed could be from scoring the crank or block surfaces removing the old one as they can be a b1tch to get out. I have some sort of picture somewhere from when I changed mine.. (goes off to look) Yep found one.. hopefully it might help you picture it a bit better http://images.fotopic.net/?id=520535&outx=600&oq=0 JGM |
