Dent Repair

Some n00b tried closing my bonnet my pushing it down with his fingers rather than slamming it shut.

As the car is an STi(MY02) I pressume this part is made from ali?

I've got 2 tiny finger dents at the top of the bonnet, where he pressed down, can this be safely removed / any recommendation?

Car is metallic silver

It seems there is no way of getting behind the dent, as there is metal on the otherside of the bonnet stopping access.

Even drilling a hole into the underside of the bonnet won't really solve it.

Is there anyway of getting dents out without gaining access behind them?

Some companies can use a strong suction device, but you could well end up with buckling. I had a similar problem on my wing, in the end the guy rubbed it down, filled and re-sprayed, and it looks spot on. It was done by Prime Finish in Nottingham

Good Job

Suction would definatly get mine out.

Is there an actual plate behind the bonnet, like a second skin? One company suggested drilling a hole so they could get behind it, but not much point if there is a second skin glued to the underside of the bonnet I guess??

You can hardly see them, it's just they are really annoying and I want them gone.

I recently had some dents removed by Little Knocks. Great service and great price. About 70% cheaper than Subaru's quote.

So does the bonnet of an sti have a kind of second skin?

Just wondering if it's worth the 2 hour drive to little knocks, only to be told they cant do it?

Coz I think they HAVE to get in behind the dent, so if the bonnet has a second skin stuck to it, that would be impossible

They have a single outer skin, and the inner skin 'framework'.

Nevetas 02 March 2004 05:46 PM

In that case is it quite feesable they should be able to somehow get there 'rod' under the dent? So it would be worth the trip?

Give them a call LITTLEKNOCKS and ask if its worth the drive :)

They did a top job on my car a couple of months ago also :D

Nevetas 02 March 2004 08:02 PM

Cheers, I gave them a call but they said they really can't tell if they can get in behind it, until they see it :(

I emailed pics, but they said it best to see it 'in the flesh'.

Same thing happened to my UK300...some knob opening my bonnet, ending in 2 thumb marks.

I got a metal coat hanger bent the end and gentle pushed & turned behind the frame work until it popped out.......

Nevetas 02 March 2004 09:36 PM

So you didn't have to get past any secondary skin or anything then?

Nevetas 03 March 2004 12:35 PM

Sorted Dent Devils have managed to take them out, after a lot of hard work, and playing around, trying to get in through differant holes!

All sorted :D
