Whats the difference between a VF24 & TD04?

Looking at getting a VF24 for my MY00

How much difference is there between them

Which is the quicker at spooling, and which can run higher boost etc

Cheers

VF24 is the standard STi4 unit, and works quite well, low spool etc. It runs out of puff mid 300's IIRC - not got a curve for it, so not sure on what boost. Probably plenty for what you're after.

td04 spools nice, runs out of puff far to early for my liking

VF24s are small turbos and they're not suited for big power cars. Lovely to drive if you're only aiming for 300-310ish.

how does the 24 compare to a TD05?

:)

VF24 is much smaller, boosts earlier. Can handle less mid-range and top-end boost

Has anyone got any links to comparison tables of the turbos?

MRT turbo type gumph

My UK MY98 now runs with a VF24 turbo, with the aid of full decat, induction kit, 440cc injectors, uprated fuel pump and regulator and Power Engineering Phase 2 remap it now runs a nice 311BHP and 288LBF at 1.3bar peak. :D

You notice a slight lag over the TD04 but boy does the power make up for that 300rpm lag difference :D

Email me as my profile and when I get back home later this week I will post you my power graphs so you can have a look see :D

Get it fitted and remapped you wont regret it !

Cheers

Neal
