Best discs and Pads for standard scooby brakes?? (4-pots)

Hi all,
Just a quick question...
What would be the best pad/disc combination to run on the standard subaru 4-pot as found on a my99 scooby?? I won't be going larger so please don't suggest it!! (only have 16" wheels for now..)
Thanks very much! :D

Cheers mate, much appreciated.
Anybody else got any reccomendations? Also, where did you source the pagid discs from and how much did they set you back??

Welloilbeefhooked 01 March 2004 07:17 PM

I have some EBC discs and pads for sale £100 + postage.

They are used but in good condition.

ADL Blueprint

Twigster, a m8 of mine has a type r and has put ADL Blueprint disks on with matching pads. These are direct replacement for the OEM, so no drilled/grooved etc, standard size but what a difference.

Best bit is they cost less than OEM replacement, you need to look up Blueprint ADL on the web and find a dealer near you. They arrive usually next day, I'm not joking when I say they're fantastic.

I would have them myself but I've just gone for the Godspeed Big Brake upgrade.

i use the ferodo DS2500 pads and my next upgrade will be TSL group N+ discs. supposed to be an awesome combination!

:D

Twigster 02 March 2004 08:54 AM

Any more ideas? Will look into the TSL kit, thanks for the advice!!

Powerstation seem to rate the tarox pads/disks, and I know they're almost local to you. Not pricey, certainly a lot better than the standard items. Be curious to peoples opinons!

I have TSL GrpN disks and ds2500 pads - I upgraded from 2 pots to refurb 4s, disks pads and braided lines all round...about a year ago - still on the same pads 30K miles later...

Can't complain :D

Black Diamond discs are good value and good performance, drilled or grooved.

TSL have some smart looking ones on their website with coloured bells.
Must be new didn't see them yesterday on there.

AM looking very serioulsy at the powerstaition Tar-ox sport Japan discs. I have 40 grooves at the minute and I'm not convinced on them but I am happy with how they stood up in terms of wear. I also liked the pagid kit but I refuse to pay £500 for 294mm discs!!!!

I know, I know, I'm a tight arse!! :D :D

RRH 03 March 2004 06:46 PM

It really depends what you want to do m8.

The best road setup ain't the best trackday compromise, and vice versa.

Pagid disks / mintex 1155 my preferred combination for fast road / trackdays.

I had a ferodo ds2500 / tarox combi on my RA.

Stopped really well but the pads lasted about 3 minutes with the heavily grooved (80?) disks:(

The ds2500 seem to be rated well, had a look for a price on the TSL site but not found, what should we be looking to pay for a set
Cheers

I have DS2500s on a MY00 - got mine from Scoobymania I think. Sure they were about £90 for the front pads - if memory serves.

Amazed that nobody has suggested Godspeed. None of the other recommendations here has a two-pice disc, which is probably the biggest advantage Godspeed has to offer. There is nothing to touch them at this money.

Richard.

Hi Mark

This is EXACTLY what I want to do for my WRX. How do you rate this set-up - is stopping power awesome, especially from 70mph+ :D ?! Any warping issues, etc, etc...?

Thanks, John

Hi
Just got back off holidays so will add details to this thread.

I can supply one piece grooved 294mm discs and either Mintex M1144/1155 pads , or Ferodo DS2500 pads for £200 , or 2 piece 294mm grooved discs and bells with the above pads for £450.
The 2 piece discs are more suitable for trackdays that the one piece discs , for those looking for the best setup to use with the Subaru 4 pots and 16" wheels.

For most peoples use I would recomend the one piece discs and Mintex M1155 pads , I think these are better than the DS2500's.

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Hello Ian, hope your holiday was good?

My stuff is now fitted, I posted a thread about great service from you again: my bells to you and back to me with discs in 3 working days. Brilliant. The rear kit works great too and looks the nuts.:norty:

Can I still expect those spacers?

Alcazar
