If so, which is the best to go for?

Yes the NAT will only block a port scanning virus like the blaster worm. You still need AV for email transmitted virus threats.

I use AVG... 'cause it's free :D

You need both.

A NAT firewall should stop most attacks from outsiders but wont stop a virus attached to an e-mail or similar.
