New Fuel Pump ?

Yesterday again my car failed to start up after filling her up at the petrol station. Tried tapping the fuel tank to get the pump going without any success. Eventually gave up and phoned the RAC and had her towed home on the back of RAC truck.

What i need to know is what is my best route to how to change the pump and which one to go for and where from/cost etc...

Thanks in advance..

If your sure its the pump then you could get an uprated one from Lateral Performance or AS Performance. Your looking at about £100-120. Or you could just get a secondhand standard one, there should be loads about as lots of people have upgraded.

The standard one is good for upto about 300bhp, just in case that helps.

Dave.

Hope they towed it on all 4 wheels :)

Can you hear the pump start / whine when you start the car?

Hi MB,

Yes they lifted the whole thing onto a truck, the pump does not power up at all, there definately is power at the connector. Is it a easy task to replace the pump ? I filled up 3/4 of the tank with optimax at the time.

Has anyone got the part no for the walbro pump year 95 ? It seems that the walbro pumps are alot cheaper in the USA due to the currency rates.

Just to add, changing the fuel pump yourself is a very easy job, takes about an hour, without any rush. One tip, have a bottle handy to catch the fuel that will squirt out of the hose coming FROM the pump when you disconnect it, more comes out than you might expect, and its under pressure!
