Whistling VTA dump valve

I think this is whats making a whistling noise as I drive around normally. Doesnt really bother me, but wondered if its something that can be easily fixed. I have the Bailey VTA EVO dump valve.

Pointers appreciated,
Mark

Mine is similar.....

Only when maintaining speed on motorway. It kinda constantly "dumps". I get a constant psssssssssssssssss. If i release the throttle I get a small dump. If i press the throttle slightly it stops immediately.

Only when maintaining a constant speed on motorway though.

Doesnt whistle!

Sounds like leakage. Spring tension is too slack.

You'll be losing boost pressure and performance.

Get it changed ASAP

I get this too. At anything above 2750 revs if I accelerate slightly i get a psssssssssss noise (rush of pressured air) release from the dumpvalve. i too have the Bailey VTA on an MY99.

Any more thoughts on this one folks? Is this normal or a faulty valve?

Mine seems to think its a kettle at the moment. It whistles loudly above 3.5k rpm when on boost. Only had it about 3/12

Silly question maybe folks, but are you all sure the whistle's coming from the dumpvalve? There are other things known to whistle under boost, not least a blowing gasket, fuel tank vent valve, or a fail(ing) turbo.

Easiest way to rule out the DV is to put the standard one back on for a while...

What makes the turbo whistle when its failing--ive just decatted mine and can hear the turbo whistling since then????????
I thought it was the decat downpipe not having the same amount of insulation.
