I am looking for info on how the STI V6 suspension rides. Balanced? Over/underdamped? ect. Tell me your impressions of the suspension.
Thanks

Eric

Hi,

As far as I'm aware STI6 suspension units are the same as on the STI5. My impression of the suspension on my STI 5 is as follows;

Ride quality is good on most roads but becomes harsh on broken up, pot holed English roads.

Damping seems to be generally good during normal driving but at high speeds on tight mixed B roads it becomes floaty and uncontrolled - bottoming out and letting the car move about over crests.

It seems as if the spring rates are slightly too soft and the damping slightly too firm when cold in order that when things warm up a bit everything remains controlled. This fits in with the fact that when they get a really good workout the damping characteristics seem to change and become less controlled and floaty - due to the oil heating up to a point outside its useful operating range.

90% of the time though everything seems tight and balanced.

Chris.
