Ever since i have had my car i have a knocking coming from the back of my car and only occurs when ging over bumps or over hills.
Not a slight knocking either. More of a long knock or very continuous, most noise is coming from passenger side and at first thought it was the exhaust. I have replaced the anti-roll bar bushes as they are prone but no difference. MY94 WRX RA has adjustable (wing??) shocks Any ideas please scott [This message has been edited by scoootie5 (edited 15 January 2001).] |
Recent knocking from rear of PTMW! turned out to be the shock-absorber mounting bush which had failed/was failing.
Open the boot & together with a large friend, bounce the rear of the car up & down. If you can hear the knocking, then try putting your finger on top of the rubber gaiter (in fact the bush but looks like a gaiter from where you can see it) & see if you can feel excess movement. I have Leda but it is the same bush that came with the standard set-up. |
Doh! Bugger!
Into dealer today went PTMW! to have said bush/mount replaced. It was & under warranty too ( http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ). Bummer is that the knocking is still there http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Will be ringing Leda tomorrow. Previously, they had had the whole thing disassembled & tested & rebuilt & tested & pronounced A1. Ideas anyone? Wheel on ground & bounced by 2 heavy people & obvious knocking & movement comes from strut. Anything else it could be? |
Got a price today for those mountings
and they were £80 +vat EACH!!! Glad it wasn't those but not sure want else it could be..... Gonna have a good look on sunday for any loose bolts or anything obvious. Will let you know if I find anything. Scott |
