Noooooo!!! bring back the old server!!!

ARGH!! my worst nightmare come true....Now, because of the new server (starting with bbs.) i cant get to it at work and waste precious hours!!! :( the stupid webwasher kicks in and its now a blocked site!!

How unfair is that?!?!?!

An ever so slightly more annoyed Neil.

Sorry about that.

We will look to see how we can rectify this for the future.

Regards,
Shaun.

I sure its not necessary for one dusgruntled punter, ill just have to get more in when im at home......or better yet....get another job!! ;)

I think i prefer the latter option!

try using the IP address instead of the URL.

JohnnyR6 19 February 2004 09:39 PM

i have had a lot of problems getting on, especially over the past couple of days, even when i do get onto the site i have to log in each time.

i blame the company he works for, as if they are letting him get away with it or don't notice, then it's their fault for not giving him enough work and responsibility.

i'm in a similar position (as are lots of people). sitting around for 7-8 hours a day "looking busy" is painful enough. if one of your main sources of passing the time is taken away from you, it can be horrendous.

apply for a more challenging position which will also = more pay

yes, excellent point, which i started to do about 2 weeks ago after not being able to take it any more and have various interviews lined up already (for 20-30% more pay.. which is nice).

the reason i did stick it out for so long was:
* it gave me lots of free time to concentrate on my other non-work related activities which are VERY important to me and my future
* totally stress-free (i.e. im never asked to stay late etc)
* there is a vacany higher up where i am now that i have been encouraged to apply for when they FINALLY get around to advertising that position (but looks like that will never happen as its been 6 months+)

for me its not so tough as im pretty mobile i guess (so have been able to apply all over the country), but for people with family, kids etc, who can't be mobile, there might not always be suitable positions locally.

a lot of people ARE stuck in a rut in their job and CANNOT get out tho.

Neilo 19 February 2004 09:59 PM

Heh, im not stuck in a rut just yet....contracting is kind of good in that respect, but if you are a very efficient person such as myself you can easily handle the same workload as a less efficient person several times over. I merely use Scoobynet as a bit of light relief while i am in between tasks. I dont use it all the time. It probably came out a bit wrong in the first post (which wasnt even intended to be serious in the first place) so apologies for anybody who got the wrong end of the stick.

As it happens i have an interview for another job next wednesday anyway.....so hopefully they havent got the g*y webwasher.

Neil.

P.S. the only reason they have webwasher is that they are a very paranoid company who had a bad experience once, so i cant blame them.

oh no, i wasnt meaning you necessarily were. just a comment at the "when people should be working" remark really.

didnt realise you were a contractor... i do hope you're not billing the time you spend on scoobynet to your clients ;) :D
