How do I recover a deleted zip file in XP (recycle bin disabled)

Arggggh!! Just deleted a large zip file in error, and no recycle bin :(

Any way of retrieving it?

So long as you haven't written over the blocks that that file was using, you should be able to get it back.

I use Ontrack EasyRecovery, works a treat even on formatted drives. But there are loads of programs about to do this, some better than others.

Lots of other cheaper options here.

Hmmm, downloaded File Rescue Plus Demo, which allows 2 files to be undeleted FOC. It finds some of the files that were deleted at the same time I inadvertently dispatched the wanted file, but no trace of the one I want back.

Then downloaded trial version of the Ontrack one, same result.

(BTW, have checked to make sure I had not simply moved the file elsewhere)

Any more ideas?

Fraid not. I have the full version of the Ontrack software and its worked every time for me. Even when I stupidly formatted one of my drives 4 times :o
Its a bit expensive for just recovering one file though. I would suggest Googling as there are loads of programs out there for this, but I can't recommend any others because I haven't used them.

Don't mind paying if I know it's going to do the job. What's puzzling me is that the drive scan is not showing all of the files that were deleted at the same time, although lists dozens that were deleted eons ago.

Oh well, thanks for trying :)
