Squeeking clutch
 

Apologies if this has been done before, but since i can't search...

I have a MY00 classic with the standard OEM clutch.
When i've been driving for a while, or more likely sitting in a huge traffic jam on the M25, when i pull away slowly - say at about 1000 - 1500 rpm, the clutch makes an awful squeeky/whiney noise. I can't detect any slip, the car still moves ok, but the sound is terrible sometimes.
It never happens when the car is cold, though i do get some clutch judder when it is cold.

Someone once mentioned it could be related to the slave cylinder?

Anyone got any suggestions? Is the clutch on the way out?

Me too... I have a standard MY01 WRX with the same issue. No mods to the car, no track days or drag racing... Done about 27k miles so far.

Anytime the car is warm (after say 20 miles' driving), when slipping the clutch to move away it makes a squealing noise. The more the clutch is slipped, the worse the noise (on long stop-start uphill bits there is a burning smell too, only had this once though).

Any ideas folks?

OK finally got to talk to my local Scooby dealer (Sparshatts, nr. Southampton) about this. Apparently some judder when pulling away cold is 'normal'. Noise like mentat mentioned *might* be due to a thrust bearing but if the clutch isn't slipping, it's not worth fixing until the clutch itself needs replaced.

I still get the same noise but it's not getting any worse.
