Pricing of iPod Mini

I reckon they're pretty cool: http://www.apple.com/ipodmini/. They're on sale in the States (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...ts/AppleStore/) very shortly for 249 USD. At current exchange rates that's about £130. Sounds good... but they won't sell/ship outside USA. It's officially on sale in the UK in April. Does anyone know what the UK price will be?

I'd like to think that it's going to be the £130/£150 mark, but I don't think it's realistic. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it's in the £200/£250 region (especially considering current UK iPod prices). What do you think?

At a guess I would say about £175. At this price its a bargain. Forget the other iPod exists and look round at other small mp3 players all you see are solid states upto 512mb at around £150 - £200.

The mini is 4 gig and about the size of a business card. Impressive and a top deal if they keep it under £200.

I'm not even considering the current iPod models. I have a 128Mb solid state player now, but if the pricing is right I might take an iPod Mini in the summer. If they screw up the pricing, I'll look into getting it from the States instead.

It's available for pre-order at Firebox for £199.95 (http://www.firebox.com/index.html?di...roduct&pid=749)

I heard Apple had taken 100,000 pre orders in the US on the new iPod Mini's...

Yes, that's what the Beeb is reporting: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3498839.stm. Bearing in mind the $/£ exchange rate, there has to be a way to buy one cheaper than £200!

if people want them then why not get one of our US members to buy and post you one over. Throw in the price of a few beers and everybody is happy!

Yeah, I was thinking of something along those lines; asking someone from our Washington office to buy one and send it as a gift (i.e. no tax). I wonder what the cost of a UK -> US wire transfer is?

just stick a tenner in the post.... by the time it arrives it should cover the cost of the iPod ;)

I wouldn't pre order just yet, especially as the pricing hasn't been confirmed yet.
