Which Panel Filter gives most Air FLow Volume
I read that TSL are developing a 'Blue' filter which is supposed to give as much flow as an Induction kit.
If this is not true, which panel allows the most. I seem to remember a post that had values for some of the more popular fitments. I don't want to go to an induction kit, cause the noise gets on me t-i-t-s...;) |
I think Bob ( or might have been JB ) reckoned the Sti paper one flowed the most .. not sure on the longevity of it ( or if anyone has measured flow over time )

I think I read the same post.....
Not sure where you get an STI one |
I think scoobymania do the STI one
|
They do indeed http://www.scoobymania.co.uk/prodimgs/stipanel.jpg
£47.00, so much the same as an ITG |
Im using green cotton and its doing me proud.
mostly I chose this one under advice, its not oily so wont bugger my MAF on MY99/00 model. |
I've got K&N panel at the moment. Not really sure how MAF friendly it is.
Although I am on my second MAF (of the newer design, I think). |
I'm also on a K&N panel , but it's not at all oily ( and I have checked the intake tube ). I think the main problem comes when you re-oil them and put too much on....
Will probably go to Sti next replacement. Steve |
Ive had a RamAir ( screwed maf before i even bought the car of the dealer ), then standard OE one, then ITG and now switched to a JR one ( from JW Racing ). The JR is by far the best. Throttle responce is improved, generally feels smoother through gear changes + you can here the turbo spool up more. The ITG was definitely oily and left loads of gunk in the bottom of the filter box.
This is for a standard MY00 ( except running with a tsl mid section and prodrive backbox ) Cheers Rich |
Gotta agree with Richard. I have put the JR filter on and throttle response and spool up in much improved. Well worth the ££.

Has anyone any experience in using the Perrin Performance foam filters?
|
Does anyone know if JR and Jetex are one and the same company as their filters seem identical as shown here?
Another thing which puzzles me is why Jetex recommend cleaning their filters every 7000 miles where as the K&N say you can go on for 50000 miles before cleaning. Given that these filter are almost identical (both cotton gauze), can anyone explain why this is? Thanks for any help. |
So I take it that the STi paper filter is MAF friendly then ?
I also assume that this is not the filter that UK STi's have fitted to them, and that this is a Jap filter. Is it any better than the Green filter ? |
Hi!
I have never had a problem and I've sold more of the JR Filter to more Subaru customers during the past 2 years than anyone, as I was the first Subaru Specialist to recognise their performance and reliability in the UK, only now are others trying to jump on the bandwagon, as they know how well we've been doing with them and how we have had no problems, unlike other brands we've dealt with in the past. We found JR by chance, one of our Australian suppliers sent us one by mistake so we thought we would take out the old performance filter we had in our STI, as it was leaving green goo on the MAF sensor, the JR imeadiately made the car feel much livlier and the throttle response was amazing for a panel filter! JR are a French company and are not the same as Jetex. For more info please go to: http://www.j-w-racing.co.uk/acatalog...irfilters.html Jamie www.j-w-racing.com www.dawesdevices.co.uk |
