are there any discs that wont do this..?

What make of disc did it use to be?
To really make them do that they need to get very hot, cast iron is pretty hard to kill :(

Looking at the grooves in it, it looks like its from a well known supplier in Nottingham! It is possible to do this to any standard-ish disc with loads of abuse. Did it get very hot then cool down really quickly (water)? The only way to try and eliminate this is to go for a higher spec of disc like Godspeed's standard size, 2 piece disc. They ain't cheap though.

weather was dry with no water about, id done 20 miles or so and brakes were warmed up.
i did have to brake heavily when a car pulled out on me on a dual carriageway- car began to decrease speed quickly, then i got brake fade. i let off and braked again- same happened then i got the feedback through the wheel.

same has happened to my car but i've only got standard discs, brakes felt funny last night and i just checked it and found the disc cracked right through!! need to spend some more money now, can anyone recommend a good setup to buy without spending stupid money???

dave, this happened to my standard discs on both sides as well. i though an aftermarket "group N rally spec ideal for fast road/track use" would hold out better but guess not!
they were a lot better at stopping the car though...
wish i could afforg a "big brake kit".

Not sure how long you had had them but complain. The disks mmust be fit for purpose, if you are using them as designed and not beyond their spec then they have failed due to other factors, could be a duff batch or soem fault in manufacture.

I would kick up about it, if they are designed for a Scoob Turbo then they should stop one without cracking or warping.

I did two sets of std one under 40K and under warranty, no track days and pretty ordinary use, they warped under heavy breaking, so what thats what they are designed to do!

If you are running a big bhp car or tracking it then i would expect disk to become regular consumables like tyres and pads iunless they are a really good spec and £££'s otherwise i recon 60K is about right for disks

About £350 a pair! (Put me right off!) Proper group n discs should be much better than standard as they are a better grade of metal. Those you have on are grooved, so they ain't group n legal anyway. Are they supposed to have been made from the best quality discs?

these cost me £220 and i have done around 10k miles with them.

Craig, i've just had another look at the photo. Are there a lot of surface stress cracks around the disc? What pads were you using? It may be worth speaking to TSL and asking if they will give you their opinion on why the disc cracked.

i was using the pads recommended by TSL and purchased at the same time as the discs.

i will try and contact TSL when i can.
