I MUST SAY THE PORSHE C4 IS ALWAYS THE CAR I WANTED OVER 50K.I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND NOW.THE DRIVER WAS QUOTING FIGURES OF 450 BHP 400LB OF TORQUE IS THIS TRUE ?. WOULD NOT BE SUPRISED THOUGH. The driver was correct, the boss has one with over 500 bhp (its chipped) & its awesome in a straight line he's scared to B road it!! (i have asked but been given a stern NO !)

500BHP  WAS THE CHIP SUPERCHIPS LOL. HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE CAR

sti-04!! 12 February 2004 10:03 PM

i think it was & yes though its an estate (but who cares)
its the boss's toy, along with a stream of bikes (ie blackbird with 196BHP & so on)
he drives the A6 quattro TDi on a day to day basis
the car is awesome but as i said he aint never horsed it on a B road but to be fair give him a bike & he's offski !

not THAT awesome - RS6 was beaten by Legacy B-spec around tsukuba circuit when Best motoring tested them last year...
http://www.bestmotoring.jp/magazine/0308/index.html - dvd available from funkyproduct in uk
I know what I am getting next - at 1/3 the cost of the RS6 too.

i dont know the legacy b spec performance figures so i cant comment. i would not buy a rs6 to go around a track anyway. who was not driving that rs6 properly around that track in japan :D

pwebb 13 February 2004 12:07 AM

actually the lap times were pretty close - though the legacy was quicker on all 3 laps if you look at the results - all drivers were professional race drivers as is usual for Best mag. The result is probably a reflection of a.) fantastic low weight of the legacy combined with nice short gearing and b.) tsukuba is a tight short circuit with no long straights - still an embarrassment for the uber audi though!

don't get me wrong, I love the RS6 - its just there are far too many of them around where I live (ie 2 in next street to me) and people have elevated them to near mythical status - I recently saw one comprehensively dusted by a big hulking cayenne driven by an old git too :)

pweb, you talk some ****e.

The Rs6 is a great road car and not meant for the track.......in tight situations it is at its weakest point and if it kept up with the Legacy I would not say that is an embarrasment to the RS6.

It's kind of like saying a Saxo VTR will beat a Bentley down a wet country lane. Who cares?

Mr Mog & I test drove an RS6 last week and I was soooo looking forward to driving one. Unfortunately the best thing I can personally say about it was that it sounded great, handling was awful, like driving a boat - it was also not any faster than our RS4 (although this has been played with by AMD). Even if someone offered me a straight swop an RS6 for my RS4 I would not do it. Not impressed at all.

The RS4 is a 'sportier' car in my opinion even thought its still not a sports car. I would prefer one to an R6 too. It's at least 200kg lighter and has a manual gear box.

Paul_M 13 February 2004 10:10 PM

Totally - if I had the cash to buy a car in that price range the RS6 would be struck off the list straight away for the simple reason it's only available with a slush box :(. In that respect the M5 wins straight away for those who want a sporty car rather than just a big gutsy powerful m-way muncher.

THOMO 13 February 2004 10:34 PM

i agree i would rather have a manual gearbox. thats what i did not like on the rs6 .anyway got to work this morning to find out my friend is buying one on monday.
he was with me on the test drive.m5 another nice looking car the new shape anyway.i would could consider an m5 in that shape probably.rs4 not to much diffrence in the design to the rs6.another nice car to small inside for me.one thing about bmw when will they change the design on the dashboards, i also think there to common.

rs6

hi guys i have a lot to do with audi's and work on the rs range on a daily basis the rs6 is out of this world and yes it is 450 bhp i have seen one at kim colins in haywards heath witch was 600 bhp with standard lump thay had just changed the exhust and chiped it and a few other bits. he also had a s3 with a rs4 lump in it puting out 500 bhp NUTTER!!!!!!.as for the price you get what you pay for in this world and if i had the money i have one for each day of the week (this is my personal opinion) also thay have power days where you can test drive the sport range so keep your eyes out

check it ouuuuuut
