Impreza Turbo Brake pads??
 

ordered some new brake pads for our 1993 jap import WRX.
problem is when we got em there completly the wrong shape!!
called the place where we got em and they confirmed they are the correct pads...they think someone may have changed the calipers over?? its a standard model (as far as we know) we have faxed them an outline of our existing pads to see if they can match them up. have you guys ever come across this before. basically the pads are phyically the same size but our existing ones have 2 tags on the pads where as the new ones have indents where these tags are??? the pads have a part number of NBKFN200FG.

When I did the rear pads on mine, the existing pads have metal backing plates which are removable. These were swaped onto the new pads. Is this what you are talking about?

Have a look at the Mintex website.
It has pictures showing the shape of pads.
I'd guess that somebody has uprated the caliper to 4 pots. Theses were fitted to cars after 1999. Check the shape of pre and post 99 model car (may have to be a uk car) and check any differences.

had a look on mintex's website...looks like someone has put later calipers on it!! the calipers for 1996-2000 are the correct shape. the calipers we have have 2 pistons. both horizontally next to each other. why do you think someone would have changed to these?

For better braking !
The originals on your car would have been 2 pots which TBH are useless.
The 4 pots that you have fitted now give a lot better braking performance and only cost around £300 to change.
You could go for a better replacement to the 4 pots say - 6 pots - but sit down b4 you see the price.
Stick with the 4 pots but inform your insurance that you have uprated SUBARU brakes fitted.
Your second option is to play dumb and if you have a crash say something along the lines of "they have SUBARU printed on them - how was I to know they wern't standard ! "
The second option is however risky, now that you know the best bet is to inform your insurance co.
