Smoke????????????

Hi Guys

Just bought a 95 WRX last weekend and it's the first turbo'd car i've had. Took it out a few times in the rain, drove it quite conservatively and when I stop, smoke seems to come out from the bonnet vents. What is this, do I have to worry?

Also, other than letting the car warm up before booting it, and not acclerating too hard in 1st, is there any other precautions I should take?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Regards

Does the smoke smell of oil or burning oil and is it on both sides or only one.
The reason i say this is because mine did this also and it was oil leaking from the drivers side cam cover on to the exhaust.

Not too sure, when I bought the vehicle there was an oil leak, only very slight and did not cause too much smoke in the dry (when he took me for a test drive) he said that this problem was fixed, so I assumed that this wasn't the problem. It doesn't really smell too much either. Have you any idea what this could be?

P.S - It did just seem to be on one side too (drivers side).

It does seem to be some sort of leak eighther oil or water, your going to have to have a look under bonnet and if a leak is not visible maybe have a feel around the areas (pipes etc) where you can see some sort of fluid?

All the best

I had the same problem it also was the drivers side rocker cover leaking onto the exhaust , resulting in smoke coming out of bonnet vent .

KLR16V did you get this problem significantly in the dry? As it only seems to occur in the wet, when it's raining.
