Hi all,
I've recently bought my first impreza, (a couple of weeks ago) its a 1999 'T' reg turbo, green, 17" gold speedlines and a STi exhaust system.
I was wondering what to do next, mod wise, that won't cost too much. I'm still recovering from having no money in the bank from buying it in the first place.
I was considering a K&N induction kit,had one on previous cars. Seems the next stage.

this might seem a stupid question but, when other people talk about there scooby's, what does the MY in a MY01 for example stand for.

any help or advance would be appriciated.
thanks

kevin

my = model year, and is harmonious across continents, so stis, and non stis can be described this way, and you will know roughly what body changes they have, interiors etc, engine changes and so on.

MY02 is the new shape in us, MY01 is the new shape in rest of world.

Mods wise, K and N is a good idea. Afetr that, aftermarket downpipe with no cats, and possibly change your mid section and back box for similar after market makes which are not sti.

Makes it louder but sounds better.

For safety is worth buying knock and lambda links from either scoobymania or
bob rawle developments, also known as brd.

These are knock sensors which can warn you if the car is detting, and air/fuel sensors which tell you if you are running lean which is bad.

If you want to spend good money, then change oil and filter regularly, and use super unleaded. Shell super will soon be 98 (.6?) octane which is better still.

The most important modification you can make is Security.....

It does not matter how fast it goes or stops
If its not there in the morning....

Enjoy

Brakes are always a good thing to improve.

Braided hoses and 5.1 fluid is an inexpensive must have! When funds allow you should consider uprating the disks and pads as the OE is not regarded as brilliant.
