Need some advice on web space. Looking for someone to host a website I’ve put together, nothing fancy just a 10min chop up I’ve made with FrontPage.

Hears it is in all its glory:D:D8) http://www.kenegie.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

All I want is to get rid of that stupid long winded Blueyonder address and get an address something like Kenegie.com or Kenegie.co.uk plus an email address to match.

Thanks,

Tim.

Just buy a domain name from someone like Titan, and they can redirect the domain name to the Blueyonder URL, but mask the URL that is seen to show http://www.whateveryouwant.co.uk

You also can then get your mail sorted at the same time too.

Just moved FROM titan TO www.ancilenetworks.co.uk and got 300mb at a bargain price, excellent technical support.

"Just buy a domain name from someone like Titan, and they can redirect the domain name to the Blueyonder URL, but mask the URL that is seen to show http://www.whateveryouwant.co.uk"

how does this work? if you get a domain from oneandone its £1.99 a year, how would you redirect it from there.?

how do get set up to take credit cards,

If you purchase a domain name via a 3rd-party (and directly with Internic or Nominet), then the 3rd-party usually gives you the facility to manage your domain name.

That is, you can specify what IP address that name corresponds too, what MX records to use (for mail delivery to that domain) and if you wish to re-direct the domain to another web address.

When I had my domain name, I could access the 3rd-party's website and access my managed account. I simply redirected the address to my own Blueyonder webspace.

I paid £9.99 for 2yrs. I would find out if the 3rd-party offering the domain purchase offers this management as part of their price and not simply giving you the temporary ownership of that domain name.

For example, Titan mention here that with their domain name registration you can have web & POP3 forwarding.

So, you could re-direct both the www.mydomain.com to your Blueyonder site as well as anyone@mydomain.com can be re-directed to your own webserver or individual Blueyonder mailbox(es).

Credit Card transactions are a whole different ball game. Either your own website does all the security and fraud checks (via another 3rd-party) OR you simply pass everything on to someone like PayPal and they handle the transactions on your behalf.
