I have something trying to dial out. Is there a way of checking what it is. I run NIS so am sure its nothing bad but would like to find out.
thanks Tony |
Has adaware or spybot picked anything up ?

Hit Control - Alt - Delete keys
Click on Task Manager and Processes and Applications buttons If something is dialing out it may be a Virus/Trojan ??? |
Task manager only shows what I have running.
Nothing picked up by Adaware, will try Spybot. |
go to Internet Explorer Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced Options and disable the checks for Publisher Certificate revocation and Server Certificate Revocation. It might be Microsoft trying to dial out to check certificates?
Also have a look at rasauto through google e.t.c. I had a similar problem with XP and ended up deleting the entries under rasauto in the registry, which cured the problem. Tony |
Had this problem with a relatives computer. Short answer is NIS is checking for updates (even if set to manual) at startup. Only way to stop it is allow connection (problem is nothing gives you an indication if it has finished).
Hope this helped Regards Ian |
