Please don't turn this into a Mac vs PC argument  ;)

A friend has moved to Spain, doesn't have a phone line yet.

He needs internet access and would like to be able to connect whereever he is, he is a photographer so the ability to send pictures from anywhere is required.

Anyone know of any providers that supply mac compatible pcm/cia cards or any comments on bluetooth phones gratefully received.
Mac is running 9.1 or 9.2. Could upgrade to OSX is required...

As far as I know, all Sony Ericsson phones work perfectly with the Mac and GRPS. My T610 can be used as a modem through OSX. OSX automatically registers the phone as a Bluetooth Modem when I get near it, if I want to switch to that kind of connection I just ask it to.

I imagine it will be the same for the Bluetooth enabled Nokias too, as there are Nokia icons in iSync. Not sure about OS9 Classic, but I would recommend an uprgade anyhow. Hope this helps.

Nice to see the SN Mac collective all helping out :)

Whilst I've not tried OS X + Bluetooth + GPRS, the Bluetooth Setup Assistant looks to make it super easy. SE Bluetooth phones are very simple to set up (I've used a T68, T68i and a Z600).

Most network providers have a Windows Dial-Up Networking profile for download on their site. Grab it then open in a text editor and just punch the relevant settings into Internet Connect.

My only experience of mobile data was an iBook, a USB to Serial adaptor and a Nokia 6210 with a data cable. 9.6kbps of pure dial-up goodness

Good luck!
Alex
