what do you expect a new WRX3 to lose as you drive it off the fore court???

if book RRP is almost £21k??

yesterday a Subaru Dealer offered me a BRAND NEW WRX3 OTR £18300

so... if you bought a car 4 months ago.. was trying to sellint now.. you'd expcet £19k??? yes or no??

but if the BRAND new car is only £18300.. does that de-value a second hand price down to £16500 for a neraly new with 5k miles?
as i look at it as soon as you sit in it you've lost as good as £2k

Beechdale Derby have an Ex demo.. 8750 miles.. March 03 plate.. £17500!!!!!! but for £800 more i can pick my colour.. be the first registered keeper and have only delivery miles on the clock.. also get the most upto date number plate.. not an 03 one! lol

it makes it very hard for ppl to try and sell a less than one year old car for £18K+

are dealers making the second hand car values so low to compete with Dutch Imports?

I hate these posts

i`m trying to pretend depreciation is`ent important

an 18k car is worth 17100 in three years and in sticking to it

PROBLEMCHILD75 25 January 2004 02:46 PM

The dealer where I got my car has abrand new delivery miles 53 STi in WR blue for £19995 read it and weep

chrisp 25 January 2004 03:00 PM

phil its only money mate LOL

RB5-Black 25 January 2004 03:37 PM

makes you want to contract hire cause your gonna loose the money anyway so why not drive something new all the time !!

tuffer 25 January 2004 04:14 PM

I paid £19k for a WRX02 and just managed to get £15k for it after 1 year (and that was hard going), just glad I did not pay the full £21k that they were asking the month before I got mine.

russell hayward 25 January 2004 04:27 PM

If you work on 30% loss from list in the first 12 months, you won't be too far out

Floyd 25 January 2004 05:10 PM

Which dealer was selling and sTI for £20K?

F

pslewis 25 January 2004 05:21 PM

30% in year 1
40% in year 2
50% in year 3

100% when it goes to Joes Scrapyard ;)

To my mind, if you keep it for 10 years and get 10% back then its cost £2000 a year in depreciation (well, mine will have) - BUT if I had sold at 1 year old it would have lost £6500 in that 1 year alone!

New cars are a mugs game - I bought my Scooby new because 2 year old ones were only £2000 cheaper!!

Yes Mr Salsa, but think of all the fun you have had inbetween. Lets be honest here people, nobody buys a scoob as a investment. We buy them, have our fun and shed a tear when its time for them to go.
Its easy to say, but just enjoy them and try not to think what they will end up costing you.

salsa-king 26 January 2004 06:44 AM

Phil
Yep it's too much.

When a new unregistered EU import can be had for £16499 (+£200 OTR) I wouldn't pay anymore than £15000 for a second hand 53 reg.
