just bought my first scoob
r reg uk turbo, wagon, love it already
would it be 208bhp? did subaru underate the power and what would its 0-60 be?
Is a dump valve an easy way to get perfomance gains, i've seen them on this site for around 150ish are they expensive to fit and what bhp gains do you get?
any other cheapish performance mods
sorry for al the q's

I think it was MY98 when the power went up from 208 to 215bhp.
0-60 you are looking at mid 5's if you want to abuse the clutch and drivetrain.
Dump valves won't improve your performance. They just make a nice woosh noise when you lift off the throttle.
The best valve for money mod is a full decat exhaust. Look in the for sale section as they often appear second hand. This will add upwards of 30bhp and allow boost to start lower down the rev range reducing lag. Brand new they are about £700 from www.scoobysport.co.uk.

thanks steve,
mine is a facelift model 97, so i guess that means its 208bhp? didn't the power go up with the facelift model then or was that later?

To be honest mate, I haven't a clue!

If you have an hour free, read http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm. This has all the information you could ever need!

The power didnt go up from 208 to 215bhp until the cars had the phase 2 engine which would be MY99 onwards.
Did they underestimate this power? well no not really, you could have a few bhp more but i wouldnt say it was significant, but for better drivability id put optimax/super unleaded in, the benefits are better mpg, more power (a few extra horses but not that many), smoother delivery of that power, the biggest benefit is that if you sit down and work it out, it costs you pretty much the same as running the car on unleaded ;)

Oh i shall also answer your dump valve question, there are no gains on perfomance by adding one, its really a waste of cash that can go somewhere else and do more good (like the brakes which are not very good).
