David,

Why the SHOUTING (writing everything in capital letters) and the "angry" face, and why post this same thread three different times in two seperate forums?

I'm sorry, I hope I have the wrong impression here, but to me it almost seems like an attempt to "bully" others into responding to your questions!

Oops - didnt know capitals were 'shouting' !!

Also, I put message up yesterday and on checking today, it appeared to have vanished.

Just a civil query, I assure you

I WOULD WELCOME A STRAW POLL AS TO EXPERIENCED RELIABILITY OF THE STI, IN PARTICULAR THE ENGINE, WHICH APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR CONCERN

Only issues I have had to date since Aug 99 with my sti5 have been:

1. Steering wheel not straight - the company I bought it from dodgily had it 'straightened at a garage and said it was fine and the tyres wore after a few thousand miles. Taking it to an experienced set up specialist in Cheltenham did not resolve the problem - geometry is fine but the steering wheel has never been straight

2. Cant fill petrol tank up fully cos about 5 litres of fuel comes out of the overflow pipe! - had the fire brigade around a few months back - they knew what the problem was immediately - needs a jubille clip on the overflow pipe - they had had a number of 'Subaru' call outs on this 'evident design fault!

Otherwise never any problems - I keep the car well away from Subaru dealers though...... thats probably why its been ok

I've had problems with mine but I'm sure it was down to the garage, they over filled the oil once the put the wrong oil in also, and over tightened the oil filter, this has cause loads of damage, without going into loads of detail it needed a complete engine re-build. And I still go back to them and they're a Citroen dealer.
Why?
Because when I bought it from them they gave me a 3 year warranty covering everything! and I mean everything (except bulbs???) they've replaced the clutch, disc's (upgraded combination ones!), brake pads all free. So what am I to do, if I don't get it serviced there my warranty void.
But on the plus side they seem to be getting better, but that may be down to it costing them £10,000 so far to get it fixed.

Had mine for a cuple of years now, loads of mods absolutely no problems apart from a MFA sensor which was my own fault.
