I have just fitted the above, but as daft as it probably sounds i don't understand how to read one. When the peak setting is set to whatever and it bleeps does this mean you then have to back off? and if you don't are you then damaging the turbo. If this is the case is there something wrong with mine as the gauge goes around to 1.2-1.5 bar whenever i plant my right foot. Is this bleep just to let you know that the turbo is at it's peak for that gear.

Also what does it mean when the needle is below 0, but moving about? What do you look for when people talk about over/under boosting?

Going back to the boost gauge, with the warning is it o.k to take the car towards the red line with the thing bleeping away?

I know this all sounds a bit dumb to most people,, but it's all new to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry...the bleep is an audible alarm that you've reached the chosen limit - you set the limit on the control module - RTFM. ;) :D

As Secret said - you set the alarm.
What do you see when you hit the peak button? 1.5 sounds a little high if your car is standard! If you find a quiet long straight road, and hold the loud peddle to the floor in 5th, the gauge will settle somewhere near the car's boost target. If you had a standard MY99 for instance, this is about 0.9 bar.

My car is a MY00 with a full de-cat, ecutek custom map and silicon hoses. I know i have to set the alarm but when your in 5th gear for example and put your foot to the floor the booost needle goes around no probs to 1.5 bar, but when you put your foot to the floor in 1st and 2nd and open it out it doesn't go that far at all.

so how is it possible to open it out to the redline in all gears without it going over 0.9 bar?:confused:

i too am a new gauge dummy.
does gauge stay below 0 at tickover and low revs normally ?
mine stays at -0.5 not zero.

Re; the limit on the gauge.
I'm running a LINK with Defi boost gauge. When it was mapped it was supposed to peak at 1.3Bar, so I set the limit alarm for 1.35.

As far as the gauge showing negative values: it's because your car hyas a vacuum in it's manifold, in order to drawe in fuel. The turbo is not spinning hard enough to boost, so you see a vacuum reading....below 0.

IIRC, a mate used to have a vacuum gauge on his Hillman Imp, and it was supposed to help you get better fuel consumption.....keep it as close to 0 as possible.
