just checked my boot and its very damp with pool of water in spare wheel well. has anyone had this problem? :(

This is a common problem, when subaru service your car they spray the seals around the windows with a sillicone sealent or they are supposed to,if it is not that check the seals around the rear lights, water can sometimes get in there.

Had this too - used a sponge to dry it (not very easy access to that area) and so far it's been dry - will check again but I didn't find the source.

just recently picked up the car it has had afterburner lights fitted could it be the seals on them? it also had a new spoiler fitted. has anyone had trouble with water leakin in through the holes in the boot lid?

The rear lights are my first suspect, and then the spoiler. It's an easy fix with B&Q silicon based flexible roof sealant!!

Been there and got the (damp) T shirt.

I had water in the wheel well and the jack well for weeks, on and off. A complete pain in the ass !

I resealed the n/s rear light cluster and <touch wood> it seems to have done the trick.

Sitting in the boot with a torch, while your mate pours water on the boot is only fun for so long. Especially when he fooks off for half an hour and leaves you in there :)

Mike.

re-sealed off side cluster now no water - also check drainage

pipes from -roof/aerial/- (behind both sides, side carpets) make

sure they are located in drainage holes properly (mine were'nt)

Yeah, just to add my two pence worth, I too had a swimming pool in the spare wheel well, the nearside rar lamp was the culprit. Make sure you take it out and clean all the old crap off then reseal, dont just try to cover the leaks with the thing in situ.

i checked the carpet around the rear lights in the boot and it was dry ,the carpet seems wetter towards the middle of the boot floor. looks like its time to sit in the boot :)

95wrxwhite 22 January 2004 01:07 PM

the carpet wont be wet around light cos it runs staight down

into the boot well (lowest point).

M444GY 22 January 2004 06:51 PM

cool but im still wonderin about the damp carpet??

M444GY 24 January 2004 04:26 PM

:D sorted ! after one hour of sittin my damp boot with a torch i found that both tail lamps were pi**ing in water.Took them out, sealed them up and all is well!;);0:)
