I went and had a look at a second hand stainless steel Subaru Exhaust earlier. But didn't buy it for a few reasons.

It wasn't like anything I've seen before on a Scooby, and didn't have any kind of branding. The owner purchased it from garage not realising where it had come from.

There were two tail pipes much larger than the standard one, but internal dimension looked the same or similar.

It consisted of a back box and a de-cat'd center section that fixed to the downpipe after the front cat I guess. Comparing to a standard bb (or a Scooby sport bb) there two pieces slide one inside the other, and hasn't got two flanges that bolt together. So I couldn't just fit the bb section.

The owner said he was getting rid of it because it is quite noisy at 75 - 85 mph, and his work colleague that he gets a lift with don't like the noise. I do a lot of motorway driving and couldn't deal with a noise or drown at this speed. That's the speed that I drive at!!

My mate came with me, who has a Scooby sport bb, and on the way back we noticed that his bb didn't make any more noise than my standard one.

Does anyone know what make this exhaust could be, and are they that noisy ?

My mate came with me, who has a Scooby sport bb, and on the way back we noticed that his bb didn't make any more noise than my standard one.

Yes he has, got it two weeks ago from scooby sport.

We were driving between 40 to 90 ish down a long A road, varing speed with the stereo off and the windows shut. There wasn't any difference between his car and mine.

Fair enough on tick over and around town there is a huge difference, and that's why I want one.

Oh, you can hear his turbo whizzing, never heard mine MY01 old shape.

you can't even tell inside the car. I would imagine if you came across a group of ramblers on an A road they would hear you coming, and have time to jump in the bushes though.

Not taking the p**s. I'm local as well.
When I spoke to ScoobySport they said it was the rear box which would make the noise differance, the de-cat centre would improve mid-range pull which it seems to but can't really quantify.

I agree in comparison to what you've found it must be the de-cat which is giving the drone internally. Some people seem to be able to put up with it others sell theirs quite quickley. Down to personal taste I guess. Maybe I need some sound deadning on the floor.

Tileys have open day at end of the month. I expect there'll be a fair collection of cars with different exhausts there. Maybe get some idea from owners how good/bad theirs is.
