OK so I was a smart arse when I put up a post saying whats all the fuss about flat batteries on the MY03STi Type UKs, well the demon has struck. Over Xmas I left the car for a few days and went to try and get in it, clicked the button on the fob and nothing so tried again and all hell let loose with the alarm. Couldn't swith it off so typed in the 4 digit code and guess what....sweet FA. Rang main dealer who couldn't help so rang Subaru assist and 20 mins later came out. Battery was reading 11.5 volts and I was informed that this would not start the car
(I had already found out). He put the defib unit on the car and it fired up, a quick 1/2 hour run and everything fine. Left it for 2 days this weekend and same again, but this time I was armed with a battery backup pack which I duly bought from AFL for £30. I think Subaru should provide these things with the car just in case. I'm off to the dealer this weekend to try and get it sorted but what can they do guy's, any clues???

They will just replace your battery under warranty. They will more than likely replace the black Japanese Varta battery with a white UK Varta battery. Or vice-versa on the colour scheme.

I haven't had anymore problems since, but apparently once the original battery dies it doesn't seem to want to keep charge anymore. I am yet to go on a long holiday to find out though.

My WRX 03 battery is starting to play up, luckly not so bad as i cant fire the engine (very slow turnover), this is if i leave it more than a day.

Ady,
Next time you need to leave the car for a week or so, let me know.
I'll happily stick it on my drive and use it daily to keep the battery in tip top condition :D

Interestingly, I had the same problem over Christmas, reported it to the dealer when it went in for it's 20,000 service last week and they responded with 'well it looks OK now, although the batteries aren't that good' and didn't replace it!

Will be taking it back again next week and insist that it gets swapped out under warranty.
