Harold Shipman found hanged in his cell at 6.20 am today.
Should save us all a few bob.

richs2891 13 January 2004 09:41 AM

excellent - best thing to happen.
Awful shame about his victims though.

Hopefully Ian Huntley will do it next !!

Excellent news for the families of his victims. At least now some do-gooder won't be able to set him free in 10 years.

Duck_Pond 13 January 2004 09:49 AM

All that's left now is to drag him around, and then chop him into 4 pieces... not quite as painful now he's brown bread though...

Phil 13 January 2004 09:54 AM

BBC not running it yet but found it on Sky

Great News :D

jaywagon 13 January 2004 10:30 AM

They're going to make a film about his life apparently.

"The Old Dear Hunter"

Sorry.........

andrewdelvard 13 January 2004 10:36 AM

There was a topic about this early this morning but it's been deleted ?

Mice_Elf 13 January 2004 12:04 PM

Well, least it will stop him getting out in 7 years "for good behaviour" or someone discovering that the wrong stamp was used on the paperwork and releasing him.

chiark 13 January 2004 12:06 PM

He was serving 15 life sentences - if he'd have been let out early something would have gone horribly, horribly, horribly wrong.

Also on BBC now as posted by another poster.

Cheers,
Nick.

one down and a few more scum bags to go .....

Paulo P 13 January 2004 03:09 PM

It must be awful to die and be hated that much and people think your suicide is a good thing :(

I can understand why though.

It will seem like justice to the family's of the people he killed or was suspected of killing. He was suspected of killing 200  That's just crazy!

RichWalk 13 January 2004 03:11 PM

Shame he was born at all. Still saves us taxpayers a few bob!

akshay67 13 January 2004 03:19 PM

Any news on what his prison life was like and what was his psycho-analysis?

McMiata Man 13 January 2004 04:59 PM

I heard an interview on the radio with one of his victims daughters. She was quite angry that he was allowed to do this and should have spent the rest of his life suffering.

I can understand her anger, but realistically, the longer he is/was alive, the longer her anger and hatred would continue.

Surely now he has gone, the victims relatives can move on?

Ali Scott 13 January 2004 05:10 PM

Good news, one less for the taxpayers to have to fund!!

Come on Huntley you're next..

andrew6321 13 January 2004 05:10 PM

I'd be interested to hear two specific opinions on this:

1) from someone who would have liked to see him face the death penalty - how do you feel now he's topped himself?

2) from someone who wanted him to 'rot' in prison - do you feel 'cheated' now he's dead?

mart360 13 January 2004 10:03 PM

see there going to have an enquiry as to how this was allowed to happen.....................

WHAT THE FCUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

given that it is no longer against the law to commit suicide,,why the interest

surley that would be a breach of his human rights, by preventing him from taking his life if he wished!!!!

personally i believe that when they arrive at the old hmp they should be given pills razors and rope with the understanding

that if they want to do it feel free.

it could save a fotune in the long run

flame suit nearby
