220 PS on 100 RON would be my best guess (215 bhp).

Depending on what my local garage are wanting to with it I could snap it up for around 3.5k! it has 75K miles on the clock, noisy zorst and 18" rims. Looks very tidy

hell of a difference to my insurance though. A uk scoob is about £850 for me to insure, JDM is about £1100

little....jap cars are better spec'd no doubt!

why not get a nice cheap well looked after uk car for yer 1st scoob .then maybe after a year or 2 see about a jap car then when hopefully yer insurance will be a lot better?

just a thought..

i run a uk wagon(due to child seat/buggy etc) and its running about 300bhp!

It's the improved spec that attracts me, and the price. considering I was initially planning on spending 7-8k on a UK car this seems like a bargain. I know that the mechanics at the garage have been giving it a good go-over and apparently it's top notch and very rapid.
Problem with insurance is that I don't think I will see any major drop until I hit 30, I'm 25 now with full no claims so there ain't much that I can do to get a better deal.

Plus I'm a sucker for the extra gadgets that you get :)

Inspection sounds like a good idea and thanks very much for the advice.
I'm sure I will enjoy it, I've wanted one since I was about 15 :)

new boy 13 January 2004 09:17 AM

no probs....hope it goes well!

last thought try and find if theres a good scooby specialst in yer area(maybe post a thread in northern section?) coz you can get it checked by someone who nows a good/bad scooby...1st time you drive a scooby..you'll want it...even if its a bag a cr@p lol

Try Liverpool Victoria for insurance, i am 26, 6 years no claims and am paying £850.

I have a MY 95 WRX (import)

Cheers for the tip Benno I shall give them a try

Benno 13 January 2004 01:30 PM

Ask them about reducing your premium by increasing your excess, can't remember the details but basically you pay £150 less on your premium but your excess is increased by £150. It is a calculated risk, as long as you don't crash more than once a year you will not lose any money. :D

Mal26 13 January 2004 01:47 PM

I run a 95WRX wagon which I've had for 3 years now.

It is a great car and the performance with decat exhaust/scoobyecu always makes you smile.

However I would say to you that insurance, parts and servicing would be cheaper and less hassle free with a UK car. If you are willing to put up with this then buy the import car.

Certainly you can pick up imports with better spec and lower prices
but if I was tyo buy another scoob, I think I would go for a UK car!

Benno 13 January 2004 03:02 PM

Mal, I am thinking about doing the same mods to mine, do you know what sort of bhp you are now running with your mods??
