Hi all,

This is really doing my head in now when my car is idling I hear a very light tinkeling noise like a tap of a small screwdriver on the exhaust. I dont think its coming from the engine bay pretty sure its from the downpipe area maybe even the Turbo itself  I need to get it on the ramps to have a good listen but it goes when revved above 1500 rpm and only appears after the car has warmed up. But strangely I had it last winter and it went when the seaon warmed up.......Strange any ideas guys ?

Could be the heat shield.

First thought was the heatshield only got top half on since downpipe installation but its not coming from there. I don think dipping the clutch makes any difference. Interestingly when I lean on the engine (trying to listen behind the turbo) it stops !?!?

Check the up-pipe heat sheilds, mine are rattling at the moment after removing the bottom heat sheild and choping part of the top one off to fit Downpipe. The up-pipe heat sheild was fixed to the bottom heat sheild, now non existant hence the rattle. I am going to remove them and put exhaust wrap around instead when I get around to it.

Strange that your noise has gone away and come back though.. hhhmm

Cheers for that Blitz will have a check of the up-pipe heat shield....

Careful when leaning that you don't lean on the coolant header tank as they are fragile assuming you have the square plastic ones..

As said up pipe heat shield sounds likely.. also check the downpipe to turbo gasket.. my downpipe became lose and the gasket buzzed.. tightened the downpipe up and it stopped.

JGM :)
