Hi Jake,

My dealer took the following line on any non-Prodrive/Subaru addons.

If a problem occurs with the car which can be connected in any way with non-standard parts, then the warranty will not be honoured.

So, if you fit the backbox, and the catalytic converter explodes, no chance of a warranty repair.

If you fit the backbox, and the air con packs up, you will be covered.

How strictly this is applied will probably vary from dealer to dealer, but I believe the terms of the warranty in the Subaru documentation contains pretty much the same information.

Bagpuss.

Jake, Have you asked your dealer if they will fit the SS backbox? A lot do, and will honour any warranty claims. Pete supplies my dealer and most of their backboxes go on brand new cars.

A dealer told me that if anything goes wrong due to a ss backbox to change the backbox back and who will ever know! What a nice dealer attitude. Is the dealer on your side or not, if not go somewhere else! Do they want your buisness or what?

My dealer said that ANY modifications would completely invalidate the warranty.
Bye Bye old dealer!

Hello Gibsons of Brock who in their wisdom told me that mods are OK.

My dealer fitted my Scoobysport back box during a service and said it would not affect my warranty.
They even commented on how nice it sounded. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
On a resent visit to them I noticed that they even have one fitted to there demo car.

Cheers

Bagpuss has got it in one. I have spoken to International Motors Warranty chaps on 2 occassions and that is what they told me, apart from that their choice of words was "....would be taken into account.." rather than "not honoured". Frightened me off for a while but now done the deed and fitted the Scoobysport box. NO REGRETS!!!!!!

After speaking to my dealer he said unofficially it wont effect my warranty so I am going to fit it anyway. If something goes wrong i can just stick the OE box back on.
