A dim question from a new scooby owner!

I picked up my00 UK Turbo yesterday, its time to refuel the girl...on the inner petrol flap its got super unleaded only, I drove around to find a super unleaded garage, do I have to always use super??

Super unleaded is unnecessary for standard UK car. The handbook says use 95 RON unleaded i.e. normal unleaded. Save the money!

Ok thanks for that info Paul...
I didnt read the handbook, too keen to get her out on the open road!
I put £15 of super in just incase, but wont be doing that again!

ECU reset should not be necessary on an MY00 (Phase II) car after swapping to SUL because the Hitachi ECU in the car will adjust quickly anyway....

Paul is correct that UK cars will run happily on 95 RON petrol, but if your're not doing loads of miles, I would strongly suggest using 97 RON. There is a big difference - engine is smoother, acclerates beter and pulls like a train above 80mph http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I ran my MY00 UK car for nearly a year on 95 RON with no problems whatsoever, but I changed recently to 97 and I ain't going back http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Chris,

Don't you have to dis the battery for a while to reset the ecu before any difference is made after switch from normal to super??

I must admit I can't feel any change in performance with the super I put in yesterday...

changed the wifes legacy turbo to sul reset the ecu transformed the car. well worth the extra pennies per litre due to the increase in smiles per gallon

Yep - as the guys have said - you can let the car adjust itself (I could feel the difference after approx one tank of SUL had been used), or do a manual ECU reset. If you do a search on the topic, you'll find details of how to do it.

Also helps if you're company gives you a petrol card and they don't mind you putting in SUL http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
